Liz took over the business from a friend in Hillcrest in 1996. The K9 Brand was initiated in Cape Town during the early 1990s by Joyce Kruger, and it was franchised to KZN, Johannesburg, and Port Elizabeth. In the early days, it operated as a small family business, perfectly manageable while juggling the responsibilities of picking up and dropping off two school-going daughters. By 2016, after Joyce’s retirement, we embarked on our independent journey, continuing with the same cherished recipes under the new brand name – Pet’s Kitchen.

The name ‘Pet’s Kitchen‘ was thoughtfully selected to convey the essence of a ‘home-cooked’ meal for your fur babies, delivering a complete and well-balanced diet. It can be served on its own or paired with dry cubes, adding extra joy to meal times. The only change made was to the label. Pet’s Kitchen pet meals incorporate fresh meat from our local butcher, along with fresh vegetables and rice. A specialised vitamin mix designed for this food is carefully added, along with other healthy ingredients that are minimally cooked to craft an outstanding pet meal, and then blast frozen. No additives or preservatives are used in our process.
